Overview
The Planning & Design Code (the P&D Code) and the National Construction Code (NCC) provide a suite of performance objectives and deemed-to-satisfy solutions to contribute to sustainable design. This course will introduce participants to a range of sustainability principles and practices including: rainwater harvesting and use, permeable and porous paving, infiltration systems, green roofs and walls, energy efficient design, passive house, that when applied individually, or in combination, can meet the performance-based policy objectives in the various Code. Learning resources will include: case studies, self-assessment tools and guidelines.

Learning Outcomes
- An awareness of the benefits of green infrastructure, water sensitive urban design (WSUD), energy efficient design.
- An understanding of WSUD and energy efficiency solutions that meet the performance objectives and deemed to satisfy solutions within the draft P&D Code and NCC.
- An ability to apply the Insite Water (self-certification) online stormwater assessment tool, for stormwater solutions for small-scale residential and commercial developments.
