Clean energy company Pacific Hydro, based in Melbourne, has installed 25 of the 39 turbines with energy starting to flow into the power grid, according to City of Melbourne Deputy Lord Mayor Arron Wood.
Over 140 regional jobs have been created during the construction process, along with eight ongoing maintenance jobs. The project is expected to be reach full completion in May of this year.
The Crowlands wind farm forms part of the renewable energy power purchasing agreement from 14 members of Melbourne universities, cultural institutions, councils and corporations. The agreement is the first in the country where a group has implemented a renewable energy power purchasing agreement.
