Australian Forest Products Association CEO Ross Hampton declares that the timber shortage is temporary and home builders must exhibit patience, yet long-term structural problems concerning population planning do need to be resolved.

He said that the country has been struck by a building and renovating frenzy—rendering timber comparable to quarantine-era toilet paper in Australia in terms of scarcity. It will simply take time, he said, to catch up with the demand.

He hopes that this crisis will prompt Australian governments to revitalise the nation’s industry.
